The Battle For IT Leads From Search Results Is An Arms Race!

The reality is that out of the millions of businesses trying to get on the first page of the organic search results for a certain keyword there are only 10 spots available.

This has created an IT marketing arms race between these competing companies similar to nations fighting over real scarce resources like land, gold or power.

How are these managed services companies building up their arsenals to get more IT leads from Internet marketing?

The Weapons

The weapons in this epic marketing battle are made up of several techniques: article writing, link building, keyword optimization and even building up web pages.

When a website finds a keyword that they would like to be top ranked on usually they will have to optimize their site for that keyword.

Sometimes this will allow them to breeze past a few of their competitors for a while, but then they will eventually hit a brick wall.

This will be because the other keyword competitors ahead of them have seen them coming up on the ranks and decided to beef up their marketing strategy.

On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!!!

This is exactly when the arms race starts as all the companies competing on the same keyword want all the IT leads they can get.

When the upstarts coming up on the heels of the entrenched websites that are topped ranked see that they have hit the marketing walls then they will realize that they have to build up their own SEO ammunition.

The first things they usually begin building up are back-links from other hub sites and this will get them a little traction, but it cannot really get them over the castle walls of the entrenched websites.

Then the upstarts turn to article writing in haste to bust threw that wall holding them back… but once again they will not get enough momentum from 1 or 2 blog post; so they begin building up more arsenals in this area.

Once they realize they need one blog post every single day and actually execute on this technique then they will finally make it over that hill and by-pass those keyword competitors that had been slowing their raise down.

Keep Your Eyes on the Prize

However, just because you have blown past a few tough competitors does not mean you have made it to your ultimate goal to grab all the IT sales leads you can get your hands on by ranking on the first page of Google.

Normally if you have done everything right you will find yourself stuck on page 2 or 3 again and unable to move no matter how many links you get or how many articles you write.

Now is the time to begin building up more web pages and making last minute keyword optimizations to your website.

After you have made all these changes and keep up your arms race on the back-links and blog postings then you normally should find yourself on the first page of Google on whatever keyword you were targeting.

Watch Your Back

Remember that you got your top spot on Google by the violent action of removing someone else that used to inhabit that spot on the search results.

Now you will have to keep watch and look for the upstarts that might be coming on your heels to overthrow you from your top ranked IT marketing tower.

Once you have entered the arms race you can never get out unless you decided to abdicate your throne and voluntarily allow some other URL to take your place on the first page of Google.
