A picture can help a person who is thumbing through a newspaper quickly discern what an add is all about with in a few seconds. This picture can capture their attention and cause them to stop thumbing and take a second look at an advertisement. I learned this through trial and error over a few years of running adds in newspapers. Of course there is the common saying, “A picture is worth a thousands words”. However, I learned that there is something far better than just a picture for helping someone understand and become convinced to take action.
When I was in the security industry I was trained to sell CCTV systems by setting up a working camera and monitor to show a live demonstration of the security cameras. The business owners we were targeting could walk in to Sam’s Club and buy a similar system to what we were offering far cheaper than our high priced system. However, we were able to sell ours like hot cakes by demonstrating them on site with our outside sales people. Of all the services that a managed services providers should have in their arsenal, only one of them is something that could possibly be demonstrated. The remote support help desk is the service that I was thinking about which might be something that could make a splash on your IT sales leads. Now you probably don’t see how someone calling your help desk might be exciting when it’s probably just like watching grass grow. Perhaps they might catch one of your computer consultants on the phone right away but that’s probably hit and miss. Most likely they will get a voice mail and need to wait for a tech to call them back.
